Meetings

Our chapter meetings are held on various days of each month, September through May.

Our History

Celebrating over 90 years of service to the community, Newport News-Warwick Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1927 by Mrs. Ellen Johnson Livezey in Newport News, Virginia.

Behind the Name

The chapter was named for Captain Christopher Newport, a captain who had made four voyages from the colonies to England for supplies for the settlers on Jamestown Island. In his honor, the lower end of the Virginia Peninsula became known as Newportes Newes.
