Our History
Celebrating over 60 years of service to the community, Thomas Lee Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1957 by Mrs. Louise Wilson Chandler in Fairfax, Virginia.
Behind the Name
The chapter is named after Thomas Lee, a prominent and influential Virginian born in 1690. He was Adviser to the Royal Governor, a judge in General Court, and a member of the Upper House of the Legislator. In 1749, he was named President of the Council and Acting Governor of Virginia. Two of his sons, Henry Lee and Francis Lightfoot Lee, signed the Declaration of Independence.
